PopCVs vs Naukri's Resume Maker and FastForward: Free Builder, Human Writer or Self-Serve AI?

If you are looking for a job in India, you almost certainly have a Naukri profile. So when it is time to fix your resume, Naukri's own tools are the obvious first stop. There are two of them, and they work very differently: a free AI resume maker, and paid resume writing by a human writer, sold under the FastForward name.

PopCVs takes a third route. You do the work yourself, for each job you apply to, with AI that only rearranges and rewords what is already true about you. This post compares all three fairly, so you can pick the one that fits.

Every Naukri detail below comes from Naukri's own pages, checked in October 2026: the resume maker, the resume writing service, the FastForward home page and the FastForward FAQ. Offers change, so check them before you buy.

Choose Naukri's free resume maker for a quick resume on your Naukri profile, and FastForward if you have years of experience and would rather a human writer shape it. Choose PopCVs to tailor every application yourself, keep a version per job, see any number the AI adds flagged, and pay per action with no subscription.

How Naukri's resume maker works

The resume maker is a builder linked to your Naukri account. You fill in your summary, experience, education and skills, pick a template, and download a PDF or add the resume straight to your Naukri profile so recruiters searching the database can see it.

As of October 2026, the page says:

• The builder is free to use.
• Without Naukri Pro you get 3 AI attempts in total to improve your content. Naukri Pro raises that to 100 a day.
• The free tier has 3 templates; Naukri Pro has 20. Template categories include simple, ATS, two-column and photo designs.
• Naukri Pro is sold for 1, 3 or 6 months and also bundles extras like AI mock interviews and profile visibility.

Naukri also lists an ATS resume checker among its tools.

How FastForward resume writing works

This is the human option. On Naukri's resume writing page, the process is:

1. You share your last updated resume.
2. A writer is assigned and calls you to understand your skills and experience.
3. The writer sends a draft for your feedback. Naukri's FAQ says most resumes are approved within 2 iterations, and more are accommodated until you're satisfied.
4. You approve the resume and can add it to your Naukri profile. A cover letter follows within 2 working days of approval.

The first draft arrives within 8 working days on standard delivery, or 4 and 2 working days on the express and super express options. Pricing depends on your experience level; the FastForward FAQ lists text resume tiers from fresher (0 to 1 years) up to senior level, plus a visual resume. As of October 2026, the FastForward home page shows resume writing starting from ₹1,653, and a resume critique (an expert review with a written report) starting from ₹1,017.

What Naukri does well

• The free maker is genuinely free for building and downloading a resume, and it puts that resume where Naukri recruiters search.
• A human writer listens. If you have eight years of experience across three companies and can't see your own story, a call with someone whose job is to shape it can help.
• Nothing extra to learn. It all sits inside the portal you already use.
• Visibility products. If what you want is more recruiter views on Naukri, FastForward sells that directly, which PopCVs does not.

If you are a mid-career professional who would rather pay someone than write, a writer is a reasonable choice.

Where these models leave gaps

None of these are flaws so much as limits of the format.

• One resume, many jobs. The writing service, as Naukri describes it, produces one approved resume for your profile. A Data Analyst job at a bank and one at a startup ask for different things, and tailoring the resume for each is still up to you.
• Days, not minutes. A first draft in 8 working days works for a planned switch. It doesn't help when a role you want closes on Friday.
• A writer only knows what you tell them. Your numbers, tools and outcomes come from one call and your old resume. That part of the work is yours either way.
• The free maker's limits are tight. Three AI attempts in total won't go far if you want to adjust your summary for every application. And if you choose a two-column or photo template, check that it still reads cleanly; our guide to ATS-friendly resumes explains why layout matters.

What PopCVs does differently

PopCVs is self-serve and built around the job you're applying to, not one resume for your profile.

1. Import what you have. Upload your current resume (PDF or Word) or your LinkedIn PDF and it becomes an editable resume. Or build one from scratch.

A worked example (illustrative)

Rohit, B.Tech fresher, 7.6 CGPA. He has two projects, one internship and a placement drive in three weeks, plus off-campus applications on Naukri. A writer's first draft would take more than a week, and his material is simple. He builds his resume in PopCVs using the resume format for freshers, fixes what the free ATS check flags, and tailors a version for each of his five target roles. When the tailoring suggests "improved model accuracy by 15%", the truth check flags the number because he never gave it, and he rejects it.

Meera, operations manager with 11 years' experience. She has a 90-day notice period and finds it hard to compress a decade into two pages.
